My illness is schizophrenia. I had low self-esteem and thought I wasn’t good enough for anything. My illness started when I was in college. I felt that people were talking behind my back. I thought that these people wanted to hurt me. I dropped out of college and started working with my brother delivering newspapers. One night I was riding with my brother and a truck hit us. My brother died and I was in a coma for two years. When I woke up, I had problems using my left hand and shoulder.
I have found that creating art releases tension and helps with my mental illness. As a young boy, I took art classes. I chose this painting because it reflects the feeling I had coming out of my depression. I hope you will enjoy it.
