I am diagnosed with major depression. I was suicidal until I went to Wellstone Behavioral Center, formerly known as the Madison County Mental Health Center and they took me under their wing. I could see that their employees cared about me and they kept me involved in enough activities that I became interested in the other patients and that, along with medication, was enough to make me want to have a life again.
 
My friend Donna was teaching an art class at Our Place, a Drop-In Center for adults with mental illness, and I started attending class there. I have found that I really enjoy expressing myself with paint! This is my first experience with art.
