My diagnoses are depression and anxiety. They stole my identity. I was hard-working and outgoing with lots of friends and acquaintances. These illnesses made me a different person, unlike the person I once was. It affected my hygiene, appetite, and memory.
 
So I tapped into my spirituality and never forgot that path. I got up one day and told myself I needed help. I used common sense and went to UAB. My journey started in 2009 and has been long, but now I’m in a better place. Now I have the best doctors. They help me see my mental health differently. I’m recognizing what’s more important than before.
 
The 1920 Club has really changed me. Doing art in classes there can take me to places I’ve always imagined in my dreams. That’s why I love creating landscapes so much.
