Tree Limbs in Spring
I was diagnosed with Autism as a young child. I was described as nonverbal. I am grateful for a handful of speech and occupational therapists and a host of teachers who taught me and pushed me to learn and speak. I am no longer non-verbal.
One of the biggest obstacles I have had to overcome is the acceptance of who I am and others. Most of the time, I see myself as a normal girl. I forget that there are somethings I cannot do because I like to try everything. I also want others to accept me for who I am, to see my abilities, not a disability.
Last Spring, I had the opportunity (through Braveheart Center for Place and Purpose) to learn to use a nice digital SLR camera. I have not had formal training. The picture is from a photo walk with that camera. I enjoy capturing images that I can look back at again and again.
